Not all translators are created equal. Before you commit to a tool, here is the checklist of "must-haves" for 2025:
1. Offline Capability
If it requires the internet, it's not a tool; it's a service. You want software that you own, that works on a plane or a remote location.
2. Format Support
MP4 is standard, but what about MKV, AVI, MOV, or MP3? A good tool handles them all without asking you to convert first.
3. Subtitle Export (.SRT)
Hard-coding subtitles (burning them into the video) is destructive. Professional tools export a separate .srt file, giving you the flexibility to turn them on/off or edit them.
4. Model Selection
One size doesn't fit all. You should be able to choose between a "Fast" model for quick previews and a "Large" model for final publication.
5. Batch Processing
Translating one file is easy. Translating a whole season of a TV show? You need a tool that can handle queues (coming soon to Anolig!).
